新冠病毒疫情持續在全球蔓延，BC 省的學校「無限期」停課，因而廣泛採用在家電子學習，同時不少企業亦實施「在家工作」。在公司上班的話會有專門部門負責網路的安全，但是在家工作的你，反而可能忽略了防毒軟體對家中電腦的重要性，甚至有不少人選擇使用系統 Windows 提供的 「Windows Defender」和內建防火牆。香港消費者委員會（消委會）測試了市面 Windows 及 MacOS 的防毒軟件，發現免費軟件的功能亦可媲美付費軟件。

Hong Kong Consumer Council recently tested more than 30 utilities to help you pick the best antivirus protection for your computer.  Some free antivirus programs are just as good as paid options, Hong Kong Consumer Council finds.

香港消委會的測試結果發現，超過 3 款網絡安全軟件（俗稱防毒軟件）的網絡防衞比較遜色，以 5 分為滿分，當中收費軟件「Sophos HitmanPro.Alert」的偵察率偏低，只有 35%，僅獲 2.5 分，屬 23 個測試軟件中最低。測試結果亦顯示，部分免費版軟件的效能表現評分與收費軟件一致，甚至表現更佳。

實驗室利用 400 個從網上下載的惡意程式，測試樣本能否阻擋相關網頁顯示及惡意程式（由於針對 MacOS 操作系統惡意程式網頁較少，MacOS 軟件樣本沒有進行這項測試），大部分樣本均表現不錯，多達 20 款成功偵察率高於 90%，獲 4 點或以上評分，但有 3 款較遜色。

於 Windows 系統下測試的樣本，以「Avira Antivirus Pro」（收費）及 「Avira Antivirus Security」（免費）、「ESET Internet Security」（收費）表現較佳，不論在線或離線都獲 5 或 4.5 高評分；「Sophos HitmanPro.Alert」（收費）及「Microsoft Windows Defender」（免費）則只得 2 或以下評分。

於 MacOS 系統測試的樣本，在線狀態以「Avira Free Antivirus for Mac」（免費）表現較佳，獲 5 點高評分，離線狀態則以「AVG AntiVirus for Mac」（免費）及 「AvastSecurity for Mac」（免費）較好，同獲 4 點評分。

測試結果顯示，免費版本並不代表功效比收費軟件差。那兩者有甚麼分別呢？消委會表示，收費產品主要是功能較豐富的網絡安全套裝，通常包含額外功能，例如內置防火牆 (firewall)、銀行網頁保護 (banking protection)、過濾垃圾郵件 (anti-spam) 及家長監護 (parental control) 等；免費產品主要是防惡意程式 (anti-malware) 軟件，功能以防病毒 (anti-virus) 間諜程式 (anti-spyware) 為主，通常不包括防火牆。

整體而言，消委會指適用於 Windows 系統的「Avira Antivirus Pro」及「Avira Antivirus Security」的手動檔案掃描表現理想，整體防衞惡意程式的效能評分出眾，當中「Avira Antivirus Security」更可免費下載使用；部分軟件的總評分不錯，整體資源佔用較少，適合規格較低的電腦，例如免費軟件「Avast Free Antivirus」。MacOS系統方面，消委會指「AVG AntiVirus for Mac」及「Avast Security for Mac 」不僅免費，而且防衞惡意程式的效能評分較高。
